The catch is that midsize trucks come with tighter payload ratings and shorter bed lengths than their full-size counterparts, which means choosing the right camper matters more, not less.

1. The Fleet (Standard Bed)
Fits: Midsize trucks with 6.0 to 6.7-foot beds

The Fleet is the most popular midsize model in the FWC lineup and has been the benchmark for what a capable, comfortable pop-up truck camper looks like on a midsize platform. It fits the 6-foot beds found on most midsize long-bed configurations, including the Tacoma Access Cab and Double Cab long bed.
The Fleet comes standard with a queen-sized cabover bed, a 20-gallon fresh water tank, a 2-burner propane stove, a 2-way refrigerator/freezer, LED lighting, a powered roof vent fan, the Modern 12v lithium power system with truck charging, and shore power capability. Three floorplan options are available: Roll Over Couch, Front Dinette, and Side Dinette. The interior stands 6 feet 4 inches tall when popped up, and the aluminum frame and one-piece roof are built to handle decades of use.
The Fleet is the right call when you want a fully featured truck camper, plan to spend multiple nights out at a time, and have a midsize truck with a longer bed and a payload to support it. It is the setup where you wake up to a proper kitchen, a full-size sleeping area, and everything built in and ready to go.
One note for GM truck owners: adding a slide-in camper to newer Colorado or Canyon models may affect your truck warranty. Check with your dealer before purchasing.
2. The Swift (Short Bed)
Fits: Midsize trucks with 5.0 to 5.5-foot beds

The Swift exists because the most common midsize truck bed is also the shortest. If you are running a Tacoma Double Cab, a Colorado Crew Cab, or a Ford Ranger, your bed is likely in the 5-foot range, and the Swift was designed specifically for that.
At roughly 950 pounds dry, it is 100 pounds lighter than the Fleet. The cabover bed measures 72 by 76 inches, and the couch converts to a lower sleeping area measuring 33 by 62 inches, which works well for one adult or one or two kids. Interior height when popped is 6 feet 4 inches. Fresh water and propane capacity match the Fleet. The full feature set is the same, with the same floorplan, power system, and build options available.
The Swift is the right choice if your truck has a short bed and you want all the amenities of a fully built-out slide-in camper without compromise. For most short-bed Tacoma and Ranger owners who want a traditional slide-in setup, this is the model.
Ford Ranger owners with a 5.0-foot bed will require external tie-downs. The Swift is not compatible with newer GM short-bed trucks (Canyon, Colorado), where the Project M is the better fit.
3. The Base Model
Fits: Midsize trucks in both 5-foot and 6-foot configurations (Fleet and Swift versions available)

The Base Model is available in both Fleet and Swift configurations and is exactly what it sounds like: the camper shell, pop-up structure, aluminum frame, entry door, and the core that everything else gets built on, without the kitchen sink, refrigerator, propane stove, and interior furnishings included in the standard build.
It is priced lower and weighs significantly less, which makes it attractive for two kinds of buyers. The first is someone with a tighter payload who needs to stay lean. The second is the person who wants to build out the interior on their own terms, whether that means a custom DIY kitchen, a specific sleeping configuration, or a stripped-down minimalist setup. The Base Model gives you the foundation and the space to do it your way.
4. The Project M Truck Topper
Fits: Most midsize and full-size trucks, 5-foot beds and up (including Tacoma, Ranger, Colorado, Canyon, and Gladiator

The Project M is not a slide-in camper. It bolts to the bed rails of your truck, uses the truck bed as its floor, and keeps your tailgate intact. That means your truck bed stays a truck bed, and the Project M sits on top of it. When you need to haul gear, tools, bikes, or anything else, the bed is still accessible.
At roughly 375 pounds for a midsize configuration, it is the lightest camper in the FWC lineup by a significant margin. The pop-up roof opens to provide 57 inches of interior standing height for midsize builds, and the sleeping platform measures 81 by 66 inches, which accommodates a king-size mattress. Options include a lithium battery system, solar, a powered roof vent fan, gear tracks, and an awning.
The Project M is the right choice for midsize truck owners who are tight on payload, want to preserve the versatility of their truck bed, or are approaching this from a minimalist or DIY angle. It is also the only slide-on option that works on the newer GM Colorado and Canyon platforms where slide-in campers are not recommended.
What it does not include is an enclosed floor, built-in kitchen, or the interior cabinetry that comes on the slide-in models. If you want those things built in from day one, one of the slide-in options is the better path.
5. The CampOut Modular Slide In Truck Camper
Fits: Midsize trucks with 5-foot and 6-foot beds (full-size options also available)

The CampOut is the newest model in the FWC lineup and the most flexible. It is a traditional pop-up slide-in camper with a queen-sized cabover bed and a 6-foot-4-inch interior height, but the interior is built around a modular system that lets you choose what goes in and what stays out.
Every CampOut comes standard with a Power Module (lithium battery, smart monitor, multiple power ports, solar compatibility, and a DC port for Starlink Mini) and a Utility Module with internal and external storage. From there, you add what you want: a Seating Module with a front dinette, a Water Module, a Fridge Module, a Cooking Module, and more. Modules can be purchased at the time of the build or added later through your dealer. The starting price is lower because you are only paying for what you need.
For midsize truck owners who are thoughtful about payload and want to grow their setup over time, or anyone who has specific needs that do not fit neatly into a standard floorplan, the CampOut is worth a close look. It is also a strong option for newer truck buyers who want to start with the essentials and add modules as their camping style evolves.
Before You Choose: Understand Your Payload
Before anything else, pull up your truck's payload rating. You will find it on a yellow and white sticker inside your driver's side door jamb. This number is the maximum combined weight your truck can safely carry, which includes the camper, water, gear, passengers, and everything else in or on the truck. It is not the same as towing capacity.
A Toyota Tacoma, depending on configuration, typically has a payload capacity between 1,050 and 1,685 pounds. That is a meaningful range, and the difference between a base model and a TRD Off-Road with a crew cab and short bed can be several hundred pounds.
