Bat 270 Wraparound Awning

We are excited to now offer the Eezi-Awn Bat270 Wraparound Awning from South Africa. Paul May from Expedition Outfitters (wwwEquipt1.com) is the exclusive importer & distributor of these wrap around awnings here in the USA. It will be a great addition to our small, lightweight, low profile pop-up truck campers.

00:00
hi everybody thanks for joining us here
00:02
at 4-wheel today normally when we do a
00:04
video we do a video covering a lot of
00:06
different things but this is such a
00:08
special situation today that I just want
00:11
to go over one thing and that’s the new
00:13
batwing on it it’s a wraparound on it
00:15
now the batwing is a product that’s been
00:19
around for some time palma is here today
00:21
from equipped extradition outfitters
00:23
who’s supplying us with the awnings that
00:25
are made in south africa and he’ll tell
00:26
us a little bit about it in just a
00:27
couple of minutes here but i was on an
00:31
expedition kind of a thing last summer
00:33
traveling to albania and montenegro the
00:36
Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe and
00:38
one of the campers that was on the trip
00:41
with us had a wraparound style awning
00:44
and I was so impressed with it that when
00:47
I got home I dug into it more and more
00:49
and found that Paul is the guy that has
00:52
the best product out there for what our
00:54
particular needs are at four-wheel
00:56
campers so we embarked on the process
00:58
and we finally have made it so that
01:00
they’re now available we have our first
01:02
shipment in and now we’re ready to start
01:05
installing the batwing not only new
01:09
campers but also to retrofit on older
01:13
campers as well too so this is really a
01:14
pretty big deal so if you can pan in a
01:18
little bit on what the batwing looks
01:20
like here now of course this is in the
01:22
stored position obviously but what I
01:25
want to show here is that for years
01:27
we’ve offered a very very high quality
01:30
side awning and it’s a box on a box
01:34
awning meaning that it’s in its own
01:36
wrapper kind of an affair that rolls out
01:38
the batwing here is in a zipped
01:42
compartment the good thing about this is
01:44
that there’s not a big difference in the
01:47
size between just a plain side awning
01:49
and what we’re looking at for a
01:51
wraparound on so if you take a look here
01:55
you see what we’ve got easily accessible
01:59
and I think the best thing that we do
02:01
right now
02:01
show you how it works so I’m going to
02:04
take the camera I’m gonna move the
02:05
camera over here because as we deploy
02:08
this it’s going to come around like this
02:09
so it’s better if we can see it from the
02:11
back and so we’re gonna switch over I’ll
02:14
meet you back over here just a moment
02:16
meanwhile Paul is going to come on over
02:18
we’ll start the process of getting an
02:22
awning set up so deploying the awning as
02:24
they say so I see you over here so this
02:26
is Paul from equipped of expedition
02:28
Outfitters we’re gonna have is Paul go
02:31
ahead and deploy the awning now I’ll try
02:33
to stay out of the way so it doesn’t
02:34
trip over me because there’s kind of a
02:35
mutt and jeffing going on here and let’s
02:39
let er rip right now
02:48
kasing on this awning is very well made
02:50
it’s uh you see a lot of flimsy stuff
02:53
out there but this dipper on this is
02:55
well made one of the things I’d like you
02:58
to take a peek at here is this hinging
03:00
mechanism here it’s very nicely made
03:02
it’s sturdy it’s a good aluminum
03:05
construction so it’s a situation where
03:08
you’re going to feel comfortable with it
03:10
as you’re using it
03:15
canvas is very very nicely done again
03:19
you see a lot of inexpensive stuff out
03:21
there but the quality of this canvas
03:24
very nice very very nice
03:29
now that he’s got the awning basically
03:33
deployed what he’s doing now is dropping
03:38
the legs one of the beautiful parts
03:39
about this whole leg situation is that
03:43
they’re built into the legs and as
03:48
you’re built into the legs
03:49
you’ve got adjustment up and down so
03:51
you’ve got the flexibility for if it’s
03:54
raining you can work on Drain ability
03:56
and so on and so forth that’s it
03:59
he’s done it’s a very very expeditious
04:03
and sweet setup so I think we’d like to
04:05
do now now did you see how it gets
04:07
deployed Paul if you’d go ahead and
04:09
under ploy it if you go ahead and wrap
04:11
it back up you see how quickly that can
04:13
be done as well too
04:33
simplicity folding the legs back up is
04:35
great once you’ve done it once or twice
04:38
you just fall right into the rhythm of
04:40
it there’s not much to it
04:54
part of the idea here is that it stacks
04:56
together on the forward end of the
04:59
awning casing there’s a step set up so
05:03
that the arms just nest in and as a
05:07
result it’s a whole lot more secure as
05:09
you’re putting it back together as well
05:11
two mats up get your straps
05:21
[Music]
05:26
now I’ve deployed in lipstick yawning
05:30
back together a couple of times as you
05:32
can tell I’m short so basically what I
05:34
use is a nice short step stool we have a
05:37
little plastic step stool that we sell
05:38
here you can also get them in tons of
05:40
places as well too so for a short person
05:43
like me I basically just will go ahead
05:46
and get the step stool set up get myself
05:50
deployed and then I’m good to go he’s
05:53
done that’s all there is to it so there
05:57
we are
05:58
he’s a bad actor but he looks pretty
05:59
good though so what we’re gonna do is
06:01
I’m gonna go ahead I’m gonna sign up for
06:04
just a minute here we’re gonna have Paul
06:05
give us a few words on the origin of the
06:07
batwing and where it’s coming from and a
06:09
little bit more of that history so we’ll
06:11
be right back
06:12
hi I’m Paul May I’m with equipt
06:14
expedition Outfitters and I’m honored to
06:15
be here at the four wheel campers
06:17
facility telling you about the easy on
06:19
bat 270 awning the bat awning is made by
06:23
easy on of Johannesburg South Africa and
06:26
they have been in business for over 30
06:29
years building the benchmark products
06:31
for over landing and camping needs the
06:35
bat awning itself is is a newer product
06:37
for easy on that’s been out for about
06:39
five or six years now and it’s made from
06:42
phenomenal products they’re made up of
06:44
anodized aluminum extrusions Teflon
06:47
coated material ripstop duck cloth
06:50
material and the bag itself is made out
06:53
of a PVC material that is UV resistant
06:56
it’s the same material that they make
06:57
tonneau covers out of here in the United
07:00
States a phenomenal product it’s a great
07:03
idea it works well on this camper and
07:06
we’re very excited to be a part of the
07:08
four wheel campers family
07:10
you

We wish for health, for you and your families in 2021.

This has been our busiest year in the history of our company (48+ years). New camper orders are out pacing our production capabilities. Unfortunately this has resulted in historically long lead times. We encourage you to connect with your nearest dealer so that you can discover what their order schedule looks like, and when possibly to place your new camper order to meet your 2022 trip needs.

Here’s to your future trips and adventures, and thank you for considering us to ride along with you!
