00:50
the concept of a special-edition
00:52
camper has been with us for quite a
00:54
number the idea of having a specially
01:00
built specially appointed camper for a
01:04
select run both companies were adamant
01:08
about the fact that this needed to be a
01:10
premium camper something that we could
01:13
really get behind in terms of what it
01:14
stood for and how it related to the rest
01:16
of the products out of the market

01:32
hi I’m Tom Hanigan we’re here at the
01:34
four-wheeler campers Factory in Woodland
01:36
California everything that we build that
01:39
goes around the globe is made right here
01:40
in Woodland 400 campers has been around
01:42
since 1972 the first campers were
01:45
actually built on to international
01:47
Scouts for Broncos and Chevy Blazers the
01:51
concept of the camper was a very compact
01:54
very durable product as light as
01:57
possible therefore using the limited
01:59
frame had the concept of a flexible
02:01
frame so the camper would move with the
02:04
truck as it was torquing and so on going
02:06
off-road the shape of the camper is
02:09
iconic it has a very distinct appearance
02:12
it has a very distinct function and as
02:15
such the idea of that original shape has
02:20
kept the integrity over the years we
02:26
came up with the idea with the help of
02:28
our good friends in Pennsylvania to work
02:31
on the idea of a special-edition camper
02:34
what could we use it would make it
02:36
special fabrics especially name’s Nick
02:46
Brayton I’m the president here at
02:47
Woolwich and we are as the wool
02:48
virtualmin mill here in mauritania war
02:51
which has always centered on making
02:53
products for people that enjoy the
02:54
outdoors
02:55
you’re in the mill we make wool fabric
02:57
that we offer either blanket or enough a
03:00
wool fabric that we sell to a lot of
03:02
other wonderful brands out of the
03:03
marketplace
03:04
it’s the oldest continuously operating
03:07
for mill in the end I’ve been through
03:10
rolling mills in Ireland’s eventual own
03:13
mills in the mainland and I’ve seen the
03:15
process of starting with raw wool going
03:18
through the carding process fitting
03:20
process and of course the we watch how
03:32
it folks before that you’re making its
03:35
own fabrication eliminations here is
03:38
very very gratifying to make America
03:42
product here because people are so very
03:44
very deeply involved in the product of
03:48
their making they obviously have great
03:49
pride in what they’re doing
03:51
[Music]
03:59
four-wheel campers and wool which I
04:01
think share a very similar background in
04:04
terms of our heritage both aim to put
04:07
people in the outdoors using well
04:09
crafted products and that have a lot of
04:11
quality behind them through our good
04:12
friends from Pennsylvania we embarked in
04:15
the process of working with the world
04:16
rich folks it’s been extremely
04:18
collaborative process
04:19
both teams working with our
04:21
merchandising and design to relate it on
04:23
to different fabrics that are both
04:24
timeless and iconic blankets always a
04:27
good thing to have if you’re going to be
04:29
out there in the wilderness there’s
04:30
going to be some pretty chilly night so
04:32
working with the Wooldridge folks and
04:34
working with friends at mainline we came
04:37
over the side of a blanket that would
04:40
work well to the size of the bed and the
04:42
camp it’s modeled after our Rough Rider
04:44
but it’s made on a wider loom than we
04:46
typically use
04:48
not only does it fit the bed perfectly
04:50
but it’s something that is not offered
04:52
elsewhere in the market with the same
04:54
material as the blanket were making
04:56
pillows and vultures that will augment
04:58
the utility of the fabric and the daily
05:02
hues of the camper we also used a
05:04
reenactment cloth 50 102 this cloth
05:08
parallels a lot of our history and
05:10
knowing that there’s a lot of historical
05:12
reenactments that are occurring it was
05:14
something that we just gravitated
05:16
towards with this cooperation with world
05:21
rich we wanted a special product over
05:24
the last couple of years we’ve worked
05:25
the concept of a smooth aluminum siding
05:28
as opposed to the corrugated setting
05:30
that we used since 1972 and we have
05:33
arrived at a construction process to use
05:35
a smooth aluminum to skin what would
05:39
traditionally be a fully appointed
05:40
campus we have two interiors for the
05:43
camper we’re building it in a front
05:45
dinette interior and a flat bed or a
05:48
huge style camper as well so we’re using
05:51
a compressor style refrigerator last up
05:53
appliances including exterior lighting
05:56
as a package everything requires
05:58
electricity as far as letting go so
06:00
we’re including a 150 watt upscale solar
06:03
panel and solar controller these are
06:06
items that would normally be asked for
06:08
as an option but with a special edition
06:11
we’re including it as part of a package
06:13
each camper will have a special plaque
06:15
on the interior
06:16
indicating what the camper is and what
06:19
number in the addition of 100 it is on
06:21
the exterior it will have the world rich
06:24
logos as well as the old-fashioned four
06:27
wheel logo so the whole thing comes
06:29
together in a package as an exclusive
06:32
special edition product
06:38
collaborative effort of Woolrich and
06:41
four-wheeler campers working together is
06:44
both companies moving into the future
06:47
this is what has made America great all
06:50
of these years is the ingenuity that
06:52
goes into making the American product
07:02
we can’t wait to see the caper out in
07:04
the market I think it’s going to offer
07:06
something that’s new and unique but also
07:08
something for our customers that are
07:10
able to enjoy the outdoors and the pride
07:13
that went into all of it part of my idea
07:15
when I came on board in 2001 was that
07:18
the product would be built so that you
07:22
would only buy one and you’d be able to
07:24
hand it down to your son or your
07:25
daughter that is what brought me forward
07:29
and brought the company forward over
07:30
these 15 years as it turns out because
07:33
of the changes we’ve made the
07:34
improvements we’ve made people are
07:36
buying more than one it’s phenomenal so
07:39
now as I’m in the process of retiring
07:42
that’s why I hope to have as a legacy
07:45
mr. P or will be moving forward
