00:11
on all of the new four-wheel campers we
00:14
have gas struts exterior gas struts that
00:17
come standard comes on all of our
00:19
campers but if you needed to change
00:22
these out over the years as they wear
00:24
out pretty easy
00:26
we usually extend the roof this
00:27
particular camper is on the production
00:29
line so it’s not quite finished doors
00:31
not in but to change these we usually
00:34
lift the roof lock that in place from
00:36
the inside outside you can just take a
00:39
little flat-head screwdriver and get it
00:42
underneath the edge to to pry off the
00:45
clip once that clip comes off a little
00:48
bit farther off of the ball it’ll come
00:52
right off of there so the clip stays on
00:53
there the ball here has grease on it you
00:57
can take the top one off as well it will
00:59
pull off so it’s quite an easy change if
01:03
you come with a new pair of struts it’s
01:07
as easy as just lifting your roof
01:09
putting your top strut on making sure
01:14
that the retainer clip is locked in
01:16
there the lower one we have to push this
01:19
in just a little bit which is sometimes
01:22
challenged because the pressure and that
01:26
will lock the last ball into position
01:32
just going to put the screwdriver in my
01:34
pocket here lift that guy up wiggle it
01:39
on there and that will lock in there
01:40
whew Allen to have these added after the
01:43
fact if you have an older four wheel
01:44
camper your camper doesn’t have these we
01:47
usually recommend coming to the factory
01:49
or an authorized dealer a little tricky
01:52
to size and a little tricky to put in
01:54
inside your framing along your rear wall
01:57
here marker lights running lights porch
02:01
lights floodlights
02:02
there’s wiring in this lower tube area
02:05
so when you’re running your ball stud
02:07
through here very important you don’t
02:10
drill through there and hit any of your
02:11
wires in the frame this size varies
02:15
depending on the age of the camper and
02:17
the height of the pop up here
02:19
different measurements that are
02:21
important for door clearance strut
02:24
clearance we want these to be able to
02:28
extend all the way up without stopping
02:30
and come all the way down without
02:32
bottoming out but that’s the basics of
02:34
the exterior struts they’re standard on
02:36
all new campers they last quite a few
02:39
years but they are replaceable if you
02:42
need it and they can be added to older
02:45
campers if you want them just call the
02:47
service center
02:49
FWC toll-free number or our local line
02:53
service guys can give you some prices
02:56
and some details
